Green Berets: Masters of Chaos

Once upon a time, this was the image (below) that launched a thousand kitbashes (ok exaggerating here but maybe a couple dozens) & capture the imagination of the world on SF operators.

This is the future of modern warfare: small dedicated highly trained specialized group of individuals operating in theatres of low intensity level conflicts.

HT even had their very own release of a boxed figure.

Borrowing from the title of Linda Robinson's book “Masters of Chaos”, this is my very own ‘missing the boat on HT release’ kitbash interpretation of the subject.

The bash was done sometime during my pre-blogging days & some of the parts used are already quite dated. Finally getting the opportunity now to present it proper.

"Special Forces"- Movie Trailer/Poster

A movie on SF.... so just call it "Special Forces" simple, it doesn't get more original than this, a real no-brainer. And in case you're wondering, they're French not U.S. SF (Green Berets).

Trailer looks serviceable but kinda resembles a French 'Tears of the Sun'. Don't get your hopes up, actual could be bad....(fingers crossed).

Armacham Military: GRUNT

Here's one inspired by the FEAR3 game completed a couple months back.

The specs on these guys from one of the numerous game websites:
"The most common enemy of F.E.A.R 3, and the most archetypal, is the Grunt. These are your general cannon fodder, but that doesn't mean they'll lie down and take your nonsense. According to Warner Brothers, these guys will effectively use cover, set up ambushes, climb and crawl under objects to gain advantageous positions. At the end of the day though, they're still begging to be shot right in the face." (destructoid.com)

Jason Hudson (a.k.a. Mr. Shades)

Completed bash to subject matter feels quite a stretch considering the h/s only bears a passing resemblance to the game character. Not my best kitbash ever for sure....

Well that's what happens when you start to run out of ideas & parts/ accessories to fuel your hobby.

The 21C uniform was a really tight fit that could barely squeezed into an old DML nude (not the NEO type) but for a less than $5.00 tigerstripe, no complaints there.

PARTS:
H/s: DML
Body: DML
BDU: 21C
Boonie hat: HT

Knife: HT
Webbing/pouche etc.: TS

SAS: Sabre Squadron

MGBB's kitbash for Loading Toys was top-notch (as always) so it's really a wasted potential that the manufacturer failed to deliver in terms of quality/QC having already reap the kitbasher's ideas & had the bulk of their work cutout for them.... right down to even the presentation of the product.

The set i had came with a missing pistol mag, zipper on the tac-jacket without end stoppers (so u gotta be careful not to zip right to the end else risk having the zipper head falling off), boots that were different from the preview pics, Gas mask lens that should be clear glossy but were instead dirty dull & the rough detailed MP5K.... thankfully the list doesn't go on!

In the end, an exercise of kitting out an accessories set becomes kitbashing an accessories set. There's a saying: "You spend $$$ to make yourself suffer", sure feels like it here. Conclusion: LT-22SAS Regiment NOT WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION.
